Following extensive and comprehensive research including consultation with test centres, teachers and candidates, Pearson Language Tests (PLT) will be introducing a revised version of the London Tests of English (LTE) in 2009.
The revised LTE will have:
• improved validity and reliability
• a more robust alignment with the CEF
• more international English content
• the benefit of using new technologies
The revised LTE will continue to include:
• assessment of all four language skills (Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening)
• two parts – a written and an oral part
• theme-based questions designed to test communicative language
• six levels - from A1 (“Foundation”) to 5 (“Proficient”)
The revised LTE will continue to be:
• awarded by Edexcel - the largest examining and awarding body for academic and vocational qualifications in the UK
